Game Notes
- The Hurricanes and Canucks faceoff for the first of two matchups this season. The Canucks will visit PNC Arena on 2/2.
- Vancouver is one of the two NHL teams (along with Edmonton) that the Canes have never earned an overtime win against.
- The Canes swept the season series 2-0-0 last year, and own a 4-1-0 record in their last five games against Vancouver. Last season was the Hurricanes’ first win on the road against the Canucks since 1999, at the start of the Canes’ third season in North Carolina.
- Canucks forward Micheal Ferland posted 40 points (17g, 23a) in 71 games with the Hurricanes last season. Ferland, who signed a five-year free agent contract with the Canucks in July, has appeared in just 14 games thus far this season, and left Vancouver’s Tuesday night matchup in the second period with an apparent upper body injury. His status for tonight is unconfirmed.
-
Sebastian Aho scored a pair of goals in Edmonton on Tuesday, marking his 100th and 101st career goals. At 22 years old, he became the youngest player in team history (since relocation) to reach the 100 goal mark.
