The post-Thanksgiving doldrums are here, and with that another edition of Hurricane Tracking. Last time we checked on the state of the Carolina Hurricanes, things were riding high, with a three-game winning streak on the bounce. Since then, though, things have gotten a little less rosy; the Canes are 3-4 in the past two weeks, treading water just enough to cling onto a playoff spot.
Before we get to this week’s Hurricanes tracking and opinion polls, the FanPulse results were quite interesting from the most recent survey, especially the Calder and Norris trophies where Martin Necas and Dougie Hamilton each get a small bit of love (although nowhere near as much as the presumed front-runners for each award). We asked who your early leaders are for the major NHL awards, and here’s how the voting shook out:

Looking at the competition, Dougie isn’t in a terrible spot. If - and that’s a big if - Carlson comes back to earth a bit, and Dougie can keep it up, the Norris could easily turn into a dogfight between those two.
The next FanPulse survey will come out next Wednesday. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is a great time to do so to participate in the new survey. Don’t forget that eventually our tracking polls will be folded into FanPulse and only registered users will be able to participate in the voting, so sign up now and you won’t miss a beat!
Now, onto the weekly Canes polls. First up, here’s how the approval ratings have trended since we started polling back in September:
