It’s been a while, but we’re back (and with a spiffy new logo!) for another edition of the Wager Wire. Since last we met, the Hurricanes made a trade for Nino Niederreiter and the All-Star break made it somewhat impossible to make bets on games that weren’t happening, so this is our first time back to the trough in three weeks.
Which is a shame, because last time around our punters actually showed themselves out well...for the most part. Here’s how the standings look at the moment:

Lots of little wins, for the most part, and everyone pretty much clustered around the same general area...and then there are the top (Andrew) and bottom (Brian), and the less said about the latter the better.

Banker’s Bonus!
The long-awaited (?) return of Valentin Zykov to PNC Arena is tonight, and the banker is betting big. If Zykov nets a goal, the banker will give everyone a free $25 three-team parlay next week.

- CAR/VGK will not go to overtime: I don’t want to bet on the Canes game, because it’s after a bye and who knows what they’re going to look like. So I’ll just take what should be an easy bet on the game not going to overtime - although with my luck in this exercise, nothing’s easy. -400 odds, $10 pays $2.50.
- Parlay: Penguins over 3.5 goals, Leafs to win +1.5, Predators to win. Go big or go home, which I’m in deep danger of doing. $15 pays $97.51.

- VGK to win first period 1-0: Vegas is in town so I’m feeling lucky. +400 odds, $5 pays $20.
- Parlay: Penguins, Capitals, Maple Leafs to win. $8 pays $16.11.
Zeke
- CAR to win -1.5: Let’s do it, boys! +225 odds, $20 pays $45.
- Parlay: Penguins -1.5, Blackhawks/Sabres over 6.0. $15 pays $36.
Kevin
