The Wager Wire: Week 10

Ten weeks of us (mostly) losing money? Who’d have ever thought??

Welcome back to the Wager Wire, where the bets are made up and the money doesn’t matter.

Last week was a good one for our motley crew of degenerates. Only one person (Brian, naturally) lost money, and the winnings ranged from the absurdly low — enjoy this nice, shiny, United States quarter, Cody — to the not bad at all for Zeke and Kevin.

This time of year always gets a bit wild with teams resting players at the deadline, so there are some really bizarre lines this week. Can our crew make hay this week as a result, or will the deadline cause some unexpected losses?

Also, welcome to our competition our newest writer, Jake Lerch, who will get his hundred bucks in fake money to start and will attempt to not get sucked down into the mire like the rest of us. As always, lines are from Bovada and were accurate at the time the bet was recorded.

Banker’s Bonus!

The banker is on the hook for some big wins this week. Since the Hurricanes held Connor McDavid without a point last week, any winning Hurricanes bets will have their wins doubled this week! Bets listed below will list the wins based on the odds, and in parentheses what the winnings would be after being doubled.

For this week, the banker is keeping an eye on the playoff race. The Penguins, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets and Canadiens all play tonight. If two of the three teams the Hurricanes are chasing lose tonight (in any form), the banker will celebrate by giving our bettors a free three-bet parlay next week!
