Eleven weeks into our competition, we finally have our first bank run on the Canes Country Wager Wire. Our dear friend Cody Hagan has needed to tap into a line of credit to keep going, as he has the ignominy of being the first player to go into the red. Neither of his bets last week came off, and as a result he starts this week with precisely zero in the bank.
But hey, the money’s fake anyway, so let’s keep going and see if he can pull himself out! (Or, as Zeke said in our group chat, “just like real gambling...you keep going.” Facts only.)
Last week, overall, wasn’t terrible. A good number of Hurricanes bets came through, and took advantage of the banker’s bonus that doubled every winning bet on the Canes, so that certainly helped. And since the Canes were helped by the Penguins and Canadiens losing last week, the banker’s bonus comes through for a second straight week, so everyone gets a free $20 three-team parlay this week.
There’s one person who’s head and shoulders above the field, as you’ll see in the standings:
The Wager Wire Bank

On to this week’s bets! All lines are from Bovada and were accurate at the time the bet was recorded.
Banker’s Bonus!
The Hurricanes are currently in a playoff spot but face two playoff teams in the Blues and Bruins, which means the banker’s going to put his money this week on the Canes keeping that spot through the next three games. If they’re still in a playoff spot - either top-3 Metro or a wild card place - after Tuesday’s games finish, the banker will give every player a no-strings-attached bonus of whatever it takes to get Cody back to zero dollars.

Brian
- I don't trust tonight’s game at all, not one bit. I’ll parlay Blues to win +1.5 with the game not going to overtime. $10 pays $7.19.
- Parlay: Flyers, Sharks -1.5, Capitals/Islanders over 6 goals. $8 pays $57.10.
