The Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals tonight in enemy territory in the first of two games between the teams this preseason and their first meeting since a bitter seven game first round playoff series last spring.
Broadcast note: The Capitals are streaming the game and it’s also being picked up on ESPN+ but unfortunately it’s subject to blackout in the Carolina market. John and Tripp will have the radio call on WRALSportsFan.com and on the mobile app.
The Hurricanes still have some difficult decisions to make in terms of roster construction, and tonight’s lineup construction reflects that (Julien Gauthier has been on the lineup card in all three preseason games to date). Brock McGinn will be making his return to the scene of the crime. Here’s how they’ll take the ice tonight:
Brock McGinn - Lucas Wallmark - Julien Gauthier
Steven Lorentz - Ryan Suzuki - Colin Markison
Janne Kuokkanen - Morgan Geekie - Martin Necas
Hunter Shinkaruk - Eetu Luostarinen - Brian Gibbons
Jake Gardiner - Gustav Forsling
Jake Bean - Fredrik Claesson
Haydn Fleury - Roland McKeown
The Capitals will be taking a similarly prospect heavy approach to tonight’s match up:
