Hurricane Tracking 1/2/20: Job Approval Tracking Poll

Happy new year to everyone and especially Rod Brind’Amour, who is back in the unanimous good graces of the fanbase.

The Carolina Hurricanes welcomed six puppies in training to become service dogs into the locker room after practice on Thursday, so with that in mind why wouldn’t the feeling around the team be positive these days?

When last we checked in on the fanbase, the Hurricanes were coming off a great road trip, and hadn’t yet laid an egg in three consecutive games surrounding the Christmas break. That losing streak, though, itself seems a bit like ancient history, what with the Canes starting a seven-game homestand with two big wins. So...how do you feel about things?

That’s why we’re here: to find out.

First, some housekeeping: FanPulse took a couple weeks off for the holidays, and will return with a new survey next Wednesday, which we will have the results from in the next edition of Hurricane Tracking. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is a great time to do so to participate in the new survey. Don’t forget that eventually our tracking polls will be folded into FanPulse and only registered users will be able to participate in the voting, so sign up now and you won’t miss a beat!

Now, onto the weekly Canes polls. First up, here’s how the approval ratings have trended since we started polling back in September:

Also from the last series of polls:

  • How confident are you that the Hurricanes will make the playoffs: 70% very confident, 29% somewhat confident, 1% not very confident
  • What position needs reinforcement before the trade deadline: 36% center, 34% wing, 22% none of the above, 5% defense, 3% goaltending
  • Team MVP so far: 38% Dougie Hamilton, 36% Andrei Svechnikov, 15% Sebastian Aho, 8% other (mostly Jaccob Slavin or Teuvo Teravainen, based on the comments), 2% Petr Mrazek
  • Most likely standings finish: 81% top-3 in the Metro, 19% wild card, 1% out of the playoffs (yes, this adds to 101, I don’t get it either)
  • Right/wrong track: 100% right track
