Following what has been one of the busier trade deadlines for the Carolina Hurricanes in recent years, the Canes will debut at least some of their new toys as they welcome the Dallas Stars on “David Ayres Night” at PNC Arena.
The Canes will have a vastly different look than they did just a few short days ago in Toronto as they will be without Brett Pesce as well as Petr Mrazek and James Reimer in net. Gone too is Erik Haula and Lucas Wallmark in the trade to acquire Vincent Trocheck, and the Canes may also be able to add Sami Vatanen and Brady Skjei to the lineup as well. All told, five new faces will be on the active roster on Tuesday as the Canes look to buckle down for what they hope is their playoff drive.

Game Notes
- Sebastian Aho has recorded a point in 12 consecutive games, while his linemate Andrei Svechnikov has recorded a point in 10 consecutive games.
- Warren Foegele continues to build a career best season, as he is one point away from the 30-point mark after finishing last season with a total of 15 points.
- The Canes will certainly feature a new-look goaltending duo tonight and in the near future. Alex Nedeljkovic and Anton Forsberg have been recalled from Charlotte to replace the injured Mrazek and Reimer. While Nedeljkovic has played for the Canes previously, Forsberg’s first action will be his Canes regular season debut with the team.
- Tonight will be Trevor van Riemsdyk’s 200th NHL game.
- A pair of former Canes return to Raleigh on Tuesday with the Stars as Andrej Sekera and Anton Khudobin suit up with the boys from Big D.
- The Canes are 30-43-6 with three ties all-time against the Stars.

- If you felt like the trade deadline was particularly crazy this year, you’d be correct:
Teams made 32 trades involving 55 players prior to the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline. The 32 transactions were the most on record for Trade Deadline Day (since 1979-80), just ahead of 2009-10 (31 trades). Full list: https://t.co/F6YwILnIyJ pic.twitter.com/OqQqhyqzJB
