Game Notes
- Game one of this series was certainly eventful. Haydn Fleury scored his first career playoff goal, Brock McGinn and Joel Edmundson also scored and Patrice Bergeron won it for Boston in overtime.
- Brind’Amour, of course, had his wallet lightened by the NHL after his comments to Luke DeCock of the News & Observer and Sara Civian of The Athletic about a blown call and replay review on Boston’s second goal.
- Sami Vatanen and Justin Williams were both unfit to play yesterday, Brind’Amour said this morning both would be game time decisions tonight. If Vatanen comes into the lineup, one would expect Jake Gardiner to be the odd man out, with both Fleury and Edmundson scoring yesterday.
- Last year, following a third-period collapse in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Canes were blown out in game two en route to getting swept by Boston. Picking up the split tonight will be important if the team is going to have a shot in this series.
Projected Lineups
The latest from Michael Smith is the same projected lineup from game one, though that could change if Williams and Vatanen can go. Brind’Amour has yet to name a starting goalie, but given Brind’Amour’s comments about wanting to use both guys, and James Reimer starting game three against the Rangers, I’d unofficially expect to see him tonight.
