The Hurricanes picked up a much needed win on Thursday night as they evened the series at 1-1. They come into tonight with a “home ice” advantage, which will give Rod Brind’Amour and company the valuable last change.

Game Notes
- Dougie Hamilton picked up his first goal of the 2020 postseason in Game 2 with a booming slap shot from the top of the circle. He has now scored four goals in 17 career playoff games with Carolina. He’s tied for the second-most career playoff goals by a defenseman in franchise history. Can you name the franchise leader in playoff goals by a defenseman?
- Hamilton’s goal was his second career game-winning playoff goal. His previous game-winner came for Boston in Game 3 of the 2014 Eastern Conference First Round.
- Andrei Svechnikov picked up two points (1g, 1a) in Game 2 against Boston, marking his second multi-point game of the 2020 postseason, and his third in his postseason career. He’s recorded 12 points (7g, 5a) in 14 career postseason games, which marks the most goals, assists and points by a player before turning 21 in franchise playoff history.
- Martin Necas also recorded a multi-point game on Thursday — the first of his young career. He ranks tied for fifth among all NHL rookies with four points (1g, 2a) through five games this postseason.
- Teuvo Teravainen scored a goal in Game 2 vs. Boston, extending his point streak to three games.
- James Reimer made his second appearance of the postseason in Game 2 vs Boson, improving his record to 2-0. This marks the third time in franchise postseason history that two goaltenders each picked up multiple wins in a postseason.
- Important programming note: Today’s matinee is the national game on NBC, and there will not be local coverage on Fox Sports Carolinas, nor will they air a pre-game or post-game show. Mike Maniscalco and Tripp Tracy will handle the radio broadcast for 99.9 The Fan.
Lines and Rosters
Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes will be donning their black alternate jerseys today as they begin their “home ice advantage” stint. We don’t know much about Brind’Amour’s lineup for tomorrow, but we can probably assume that it won’t change too much. We’re unsure of Joel Edmundson’s status, and whether or not he or Jake Gardiner will draw back in today.
Andrei Svechnikov - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Ryan Dzingel - Vincent Trocheck - Martin Necas

Boston Bruins
The Bruins were missing a major offensive piece on Thursday in David Pastrnak. Head coach Bruce Cassidy indicated that the team is “targeting” his return to the lineup in Game 3. If Pastrnak is unable to go, Anders Bjork will likely draw in on the top line again.

Nick Ritchie - Charlie Coyle - Anders Bjork
Joakim Nordstrom - Sean Kuraly - Chris Wagner
