The Carolina Hurricanes will look to move to 4-0-0 on the new season Saturday night, as the Canes finish up a two-game road swing in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
The Canes returned to the ice Thursday in Montreal after a short break, beating the Canadiens 4-1 in an exciting game that featured goals from Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and, of course, Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
Now the Hurricanes will face off with one of its Central Division foes from last year in the Blue Jackets, hoping to stay undefeated.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour said Saturday not to expect any lineup changes for the game with the Blue Jackets, so that means it’ll be Frederik Andersen’s net for a fourth straight game to open the season. Brind’Amour riding the hot hand, it seems.
Here’s how the Canes will take the ice Saturday in Ohio:
Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Sebastian Aho - Teuvo Teravainen
Andrei Svechnikov - Vincent Trocheck - Martin Necas
Nino Niederreiter - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast
Jordan Martinook - Derek Stepan - Steven Lorentz
Jaccob Slavin - Ethan Bear
Brady Skjei - Brett Pesce
Ian Cole - Tony DeAngelo
Injuries and Scratches: Seth Jarvis (healthy), Brendan Smith (healthy)
The expectations for the Blue Jackets coming into the season were pretty low, but Columbus has started out pretty well.
The Jackets are 3-1-0, with Oliver Bjorkstrand already at seven points and Patrik Laine at five. Joonas Korpisalo will be in net for Columbus Saturday night, making a start for the second time this season.
Here’s how Columbus will hit the ice at home Saturday night:
Patrik Laine - Boone Jenner - Jakub Voracek
Gustav Nyquist - Cole Sillinger - Oliver Bjorkstrand
Alexandre Texier - Jack Roslovic - Yegor Chinakhov
Eric Robinson - Sean Kuraly - Gregory Hofmann
Zach Werenski - Jake Bean
Vladislav Gavrikov - Adam Boqvist
Scott Harrington - Andrew Peeke
Injuries and Scratches: Justin Danforth (healthy), Dean Kukan (healthy), Gabriel Carlsson (healthy), Emil Bemstrom (oblique, IR), Max Domi (rib)
