The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to extend their winning streak to six games against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. The Canes look to build off an ugly win on Tuesday that had no one happy with the way that they played.

Monday also marked the first time since the second day of the season that the Canes haven’t had a player on the COVID list with Jesper Fast being removed. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour will be looking for a better result from his squad than a shootout win that only saw one total goal in the shootout. The additions from the COVID list this week will hopefully settle in more and lead to a less sloppy and more crisp game.

It will be interesting to see if Fast will slot into the lineup and how that will affect the players who will now have played in three different complete lineups in three games.

Game Notes:

  • Andrei Svechnikov’s 105 career points and 49 goals leads the class of 2018. His next goal will mark his 50th career goal. Svechnikov also ranks third among all forwards and first among wingers with 17:54 in ice time per game.
  • One more Svech note, his 66.7% career shootout percentage is tied with any player with two or more attempts.
  • James Reimer had been the backup in the current tandem. Don’t worry, he’s been incredible lately, he is 16-2-2 in his last 20 starts.
  • After a win in their last game, the Canes have increased their all-time series lead over the Blackhawks with a record of 19-7-1-3
  • Patick Kane’s five goals account for over 17% of the Blackhawks’ total goals.
