After a tight 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, the Carolina Hurricanes look to extend their win streak to nine-straight games tonight.

Game Notes
- The Hurricanes look to tie a franchise record tonight with their ninth-straight win. The last time this happened was in 2009. A win would also tie their franchise record for the most consecutive road wins at five games, which most recently occurred in 2011.
- Rod Brind’Amour has been fairly consistent with rotating goaltender, meaning James Reimer is likely to start tonight. Reimer has only lost one time this season to a team not named Tampa Bay.
- Jake Gardiner, who was recently waived and assigned to the taxi-squad has been recalled to the Hurricanes as of last night. However, Brind’Amour told media members that none of Gardiner, Vincent Trocheck or Teuvo Teravainen would travel with the team to Detroit so this is likely some sort of cap-related move.
- Both Carolina special teams units are now top 10 in the NHL with their powerplay ranking number one overall and the penalty kill ninth.
- With his shorthanded goal on Sunday, the first of his career, Dougie Hamilton now has 100 points in a Hurricanes uniform.
