The Hurricanes will look to snap a two-game skid with game two of this four-game set against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night. Carolina is trying to bounce back from a poor start to the game that ultimately cost them in a 3-2 overtime loss Thursday night.
With both Florida teams in action Saturday, the Canes could use a victory to either keep pace or gain ground in the Central Division standings.
Rod Brind’Amour said Saturday morning that Teuvo Teravainen and Vincent Trocheck won’t be back any time soon. In keeping with the rotation the team has mostly stuck to with Petr Mrazek out, it looks like James Reimer will start in net.
Here’s how the Hurricanes will line up tonight:
Nino Niederreiter - Sebastian Aho - Martin Necas
Andrei Svechnikov - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast
Brock McGinn - Jordan Martinook - Warren Foegele
Cedric Paquette - Morgan Geekie - Steven Lorentz
Jaccob Slavin - Dougie Hamilton
Brady Skjei - Brett Pesce
Haydn Fleury - Jake Bean
Injuries: Petr Mrazek (right thumb), Teuvo Teravainen (IR, concussion symptoms), Vincent Trocheck (upper body)
Taxi squad: Jake Gardiner, Joey Keane, Max McCormick, Beck Warm
A Blue Jackets team that finds itself squarely on the playoff bubble (two points back of Chicago for fourth in the Central) will look for its second straight win and fifth straight game with at least a point.
Other than Elvis Merzlikins starting in net, the Blue Jacket’s lineup should look pretty similar to Thursday night’s game:
Oliver Bjorkstrand - Nick Foligno - Patrik Laine
Max Domi - Jack Roslovic - Cam Atkinson
Boone Jenner - Riley Nash - Kevin Stenlund
Stefan Matteau - Ryan MacInnis - Eric Robinson
Zach Werenski - Seth Jones
Vladislav Gavrikov - David Savard
Dean Kukan - Michael Del Zotto
Injuries and scratches: Alexandre Texier (COVID protocol), Mikhail Grigorenko, Gabriel Carlsson, Scott Harrington
Taxi squad: Zac Dalpe, Cam Johnson
