Vincent Trocheck and the Carolina Hurricanes continued to dominate the Florida Panthers as they took both games in the short series and now the team will be turning it’s attention to the Detroit Red Wings.

The Red Wings will be the third opponent the Hurricanes host for their season-long homestand and Carolina will need to make the most of this mini series to remain in the driver’s seat atop the division.

The Red Wings have given the Hurricanes a bit of trouble this year as Carolina only has a slight edge in the overall record at 3-2-0 and with just a +3 goal differential. A part of that success has also been the high level of play that Jonathan Bernier has brought against the Canes.

But the Red Wings will look quite different tonight due to a combination of trades and injuries. Patrick Nemeth was traded to the Colorado Avalanche and Sam Gagner, Robby Fabbri and Bobby Ryan are out with injuries.

As such, the Red Wings could see a sizable shakeup with their lineup tonight.

Carolina will also have a bit of a change in their lineup too as Jake Gardiner makes his return after missing time with a back injury.

Brock McGinn still isn’t ready to go after sustaining an upper body injury against the Dallas Stars and Teuvo Teravainen remains out with concussion symptoms.

In goal, the Hurricanes, who are currently reaping the rewards of their goaltender wealth, will keep rolling with Petr Mrazek’s hot return in net and will have James Reimer backing him up giving Alex Nedeljkovic the night off after his shutout against Florida.
