The Carolina Hurricanes’ six-game road trip moves from Florida to Texas Monday night, as the Canes open up the first of a back-to-back with the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center.
As has been the case for the last few days, the Hurricanes have the chance to officially clinch a playoff spot Monday night. The simple clinching scenario for Carolina Monday is to get a point against the Stars, but the Hurricanes can still clinch Monday with a regulation loss and a Florida Panthers win over the Nashville Predators.
In fact, a Panthers win over Nashville would simultaneously clinch a playoff spot for Florida, Carolina and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

For the Hurricanes Monday, it’ll still be a somewhat shorthanded squad taking the ice. Rod Brind’Amour said Monday that the lineup would remain the same from a loss to Florida Saturday, with the exception of James Reimer in net for Alex Nedeljkovic.
That means that Petr Mrazek, Brock McGinn, Teuvo Teravainen, Brady Skjei, Jordan Martinook and Jesper Fast all aren’t expected to play, though Fast did skate with the team Monday morning.
Based on Brind’Amour saying the lineup wouldn’t change, here’s how the Canes will lineup, though it’s very possible Fast or Jake Bean could play:
Andrei Svechnikov - Sebastian Aho - Steven Lorentz
Nino Niederreiter - Vincent Trocheck - Martin Necas
Cedric Paquette - Jordan Staal - Warren Foegele
Max McCormick - Drew Shore - Morgan Geekie
Jaccob Slavin - Dougie Hamilton
Jake Gardiner - Brett Pesce
Joakim Ryan - Jani Hakanpaa
James Reimer
Alex Nedeljkovic
Injuries and Scratches: Jesper Fast (lower body), Jordan Martinook (lower body), Brock McGinn (upper body), Petr Mrazek (lower body), Brady Skjei (concussion), Teuvo Teravainen (concussion symptoms, IR)
Taxi Squad: Jake Bean

The Stars are fighting for their playoff lives, sitting two points behind the Predators for the Central Division’s fourth spot with two games in hand.
Dallas is 7-1-2 in its last 10 games, and the Stars come into Monday’s game 1-3-2 against the Hurricanes this season. Dallas is coming off four straight games against Detroit, a stretch that netted the Stars six points.
Jake Oettinger will be in net for Dallas Monday night, as the Stars will be without Tyler Seguin and Joel Kiviranta. John Klingberg will be a gametime decision for Dallas.
With Oettinger between the pipes, here’s how the Stars will lineup Monday:
Jason Robertson - Roope Hintz - Joe Pavelski
Jamie Benn - Jason Dickinson - Denis Gurianov
Andrew Cogliano - Radek Faksa - Blake Comeau
Tanner Kero - Justin Dowling - Mark Pysyk
Esa Lindell - Sami Vatanen
Jamie Oleksiak - Miro Heiskanen
Joel Hanley - Andrej Sekera
Jake Oettinger
Anton Khudobin
Injuries and Scratches: Tyler Seguin (lower body), Joel Kiviranta (lower body), John Klingberg (lower body), Ben Bishop (lower body), Stephen Johns (head), Alexander Radulov (lower body),
Taxi Squad: Ty Dellandrea, Nicholas Caamano, Taylor Fedun, Joel L’Esperance, Landon Bow
