When the Canes came onto the clock during tonight’s first round, everyone had to wait a little longer to see who they’d pick as the clock wound all the way down. As it turned out, the answer was “no one.” The Hurricanes traded back and out of the first round, picking up the 40th and 51st overall picks from the Nashville Predators in exchange for the 27th overall pick.

In a draft with a lot of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canes opted to move back and get some more darts to throw at the board.

The Canes now have four picks in tomorrow’s second round, the first of which, barring another trade, will be at 40th overall.

Carolina now has 11 picks for day two tomorrow: Four seconds, two thirds, one fourth, one sixth and three seventh.

Stay tuned to Canes Country for full coverage of day two tomorrow.
