Islanders at Hurricanes Preview and Game Thread

Carolina looks to keep momentum rolling at home against the Isles.

NHL: Carolina Hurricanes at Philadelphia Flyers Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

The Hurricanes will be back in action at PNC Arena tonight when they host the New Islanders.

Carolina (13-8-0) comes back on a bit of a hot streak, having won four of its last five games. On the flip side, New York (8-7-6) looks to snap a two-game losing skid to stay above .500.

The Islanders have had an eventful November, as a matter of fact, with four contests needing to be decided by bonus hockey, three of those by shootout. New York is 1-3 in those games.

Tonight’s game is the second of four meetings between the Canes and Isles this season. Carolina got the upper hand in game one with a 4-3 overtime win on Nov. 4.

Pyotr Kochetkov’s been hot in net over last two games, allowing just three goals in that span and making some cool and collected plays between the pipes. It remains to be season whether Rod Brind’Amour will stick with the hot hand or balance back over to Antti Raanta against the Isles.

Caniacs will hope to see Andrei Svechnikov return to the ice after he sat out Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Philadelphia due to illness. Svechnikov scored his first goal of the season against Columbus on Sunday, his 12th game from the ACL tear he suffered back in March.
