Game Preview: Red Wings at Hurricanes

Carolina seeks to return to the win column against Detroit

NHL: Los Angeles Kings at Carolina Hurricanes James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

The Hurricanes will play game No. 5 of a six-game homestand by hosting the Red Wings on Friday.

Carolina (24-14-5) will hope to get back to business against Detroit (23-16-5) as Monday’s 5-2 loss to the Kings snapped an eight-game point streak. The Red Wings will make for tough competition however, coming to Raleigh riding a three-game win streak and 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

Martin Necas’ anticipated return to the lineup could help the Canes take down the Red Wings. The gifted forward’s missed the last five games with an upper-body injury but is expected to be available tonight.

From Martin to Marty, Jordan Martinook enters tonight riding a three-game goal streak, the first of his 602-game career. Fueled by Seth Jarvis’ playmaking ability on the other side of the Jordan Staal line, Martinook will seek to keep his hot streak going.

Antti Raanta is expected to start in net despite four goals allowed his last time out. The tape shows the Raanta can’t really take the blame for how those pucks ended up in the back of the net, so he and the Canes will hope to that last result behind them to execute better against Detroit.
